You can get on the grid in vintage for very little investment. Find some old CB-anything, KZ-anything, RD-anything… and well, you get the idea. Hop on Craigslist and you'll be sure to find something you can afford and enjoy riding. Then strip the thing down to the bare essentials – which is a whole lot different than a street bike restoration. Ride a couple of track days on it to make sure you are comfortable and the thing will hold together then just change the oil and tires a couple times a season. Compare that to Modern Sportbike racing and you've got a bargain on your hands. Plus vintage bikes crash well – if you're the type to through them down.
